Feb16, 2019 Red Butte Garden: Spring Poetry Contest We are asking for poems to be themed around springtime or relevant to the Garden, no more than 24 lines, and appropriate for all ages. Eleven winners will be selected to have their poems displayed in the Garden throughout April to celebrate National Poetry Month-view the complete guidelines, and submit a poem: https://www.redbuttegarden.org/call-for-poetry/ ​ 

W, Feb 26th Snow Canyon English Quest needs us to help judge this annual contest from 3-6 pm, light supper served to volunteers. Please come support our schools at 1385 Lava Flow, turn north off Sunset at Santa Clara library, drive north a couple of blocks. Enter and walk upstairs to the SCHS library.

Th Feb 28, 2019-Z-Arts FREE Poet Reading by KIMBERLY JOHNSON-at 7 pm in Springdale at Canyon Community Center. Winter rates available to stay overnight.

Fri Mar 1, 2019 10th annual POETRY IN THE PARK workshop "Paying Attention" with Kimberly Johnson from 9 am-3 pm at Zion Park Lodge, fee-$50, free park pass, guided nature walk, bring sack lunch or eat at Redrock Grill at the Lodge. Fun day in Zion Park.

Fri, Mar 1, 2019 REDROCK WRITERS Chaparral Contest winners at Veterans Community Ctr. next to St. George Sr. Center 245 N 250 W. 6 pm-Youth winners, 7 pm-Adult winners.

Sat, Mar 2, 2019 REDROCK CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP at Veterans Community Ctr.  9 am to 1:30 pm Fee-$50 if UTSPS member and register by Feb 15, 2019.  Presenters: 1. Kimberly Johnson-BYU English Dept and award winning poet-"Writing the Senses"; 
2. Amy Jarecki-historical romance author-Writing Heart Stopping Historical Fiction, and 3. Reuben Wadsworth-English teacher at Hurricane Middle School and author, newspaper articles writer. Th, Apr 4th CELEBRATE POETRY 5:30-7 pm Joint poetry readings at Washington County Branch Library in St. George with DSU poets-Dr. Cindy King and Dixie Poets.

Fri-Sat Apr 12-13 UTSPS April AWARDS FESTIVAL at the Provo Courtyard by Marriott, 1600 N. Freedom Blvd (200 W), Provo, UT 84604. This will be our second year at the Provo Courtyard.  The festival will start in the late afternoon on Friday and conclude late afternoon on Saturday. The keynote speaker and workshop leader will be Aaron Abeyta, professor of English at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado.

Tu, May 1st-DIXIE POETS Lesson by Mona Clark and critiques, 2-4 pm  at Senior Citizen Center  245 North 200 West in St. George in Conference room upstairs. Newcomers always welcome. Donation-$1 for use of the room. Meetings for June, July and August will be cancelled as many of us will be vacationing. Poets are invited to join an online critique group led by LaVerna Johnson. Sign up at the May 1st meeting. Next regular meeting after May 15th will be Sept 4th with a lesson by Bonnie Anderson-same time, same place.

Th, May 10th FREE POETRY READING at 2 pm at Washington County Library in Washington City. Come and enjoy sharing your poetry with others.

Send submissions to Panorama.utsps@gmail.com either in the body of the email or in .doc  .docs or .odt format. DO NOT submit in PDF format. This type of file can not be considered. If you don't have email capabilities, you may send hard copies to Jennifer Asplund, 2278 East 1200 North, Layton UT 84040.
PANORAMA 2017 will be mailed out in May to those who paid their dues in 2017.
